It is with sadness that we that we mourn the loss of SEIU 32BJ President, Hector Figueroa. Hector died last night in New York from an apparent heart attack. He was just 57 years old. His family is in our prayers.

Figueroa has been the president of SEIU 32BJ since 2012 and has been involved with the union since 1995. He was a well respected man dedicated to the betterment of working families. He was an integral part in several labor movement victories, helping to lay the ground work for future generations of labor leaders so that they to may create impact greater than themselves.

Our President, Alphonso Mayfield, had this to say about the loss of Hector Figueroa:

“Hector was a titan for social justice and a strong warrior for the rights of workers. I and our members were deeply saddened by this loss. We will keep his family and our SEIU 32BJ brothers and sisters in our prayers” – Alphonso Mayfield, President SEIU FPSU
